The speech that I could not deliver because German police burst into our Berlin venue to disband our Palestine Congress (1930s style). Judge for yourselves the kind of society Germany is becoming when its police bans the following words:

Friends,

Congratulations, and heartfelt…

Yep you read that right, the year is 2023 and the worlds top economists have decided that it might be time to consider whether macroeconomic processes are affected by the distribution of income.

We face a Labour meltdown after the election taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2024/04/1… Without any apparent plan for government, or the slightest hint of any guiding principles, Labour looks as if it will be totally rudderless on the day it, almost inevitably, reaches office. This might be…

Most honest thing I've heard from the Labour Party for a while.

If taxing the wealthiest in society is one of your priorities - don't vote Labour.

Rachel Reeves says 'people will have a chance to express their views at the ballot box.'

Please retweet this many, many, many times. It's horrific.
Marina Hyde is so right.
Why isn't this is a huge scandal?

Hundreds of lives ruined. Not a single person held to account. And still: silence on the Post Office scandal | Marina Hyde theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

America is FUBAR
This image looks like a police state πŸ’€
I've visited NYC many times and there more police on the street than Communist China and Cuba combined - it is crazy to experience. Now the NYPD are the long arm of the far right Republicans? Grim picture for democracy

πŸŸ₯ FACT: Labour is run by a group of centre-right conservatives who got elected to the leadership by lying and pretending to be left-wing. They then expelled, sacked and marginalised everybody to the left of Thatcher.

That's what happened. It's not more complicated than that.

I've said often: I'd much prefer to be around any of my conservative acquaintances, who disagree with me but don't look or talk down their noses at me, than anywhere near the people who run Labour or the kind of people who identify with them, who are simply snobs and bastards.

Michael Gove’s claim that the desire to shoot a black woman because of her involvement in politics is not extreme is to normalise racist and misogynistic violence and is itself a direct threat to liberal democracy.

in Labour history 10 years ago … 🌹

Tony Benn passed away at the age of 88

Benn was a former Cabinet Minister, one of Labour’s longest-serving MPs, and an inspirational figure on the Labour left for decades … he inspired me 🧡

Why not simply debate the merits of degrowth rather than whether a guy writing 160 years ago sounds like he would have been into it?

1. It is contemptible and offensive to suggest that Jews who do not support Israel's actions in Gaza are not real Jews.

2. Simply and obviously a lie to suggest Jews who don't support Israel are all 'ultra orthodox' or 'revolutionary socialists.'

New post: How 14 years have shown the impossibility of shrinking the UK state

From 2010 they have been trying, and are still trying, but have completely failed. I look at a key reason why, and how their trying has severely damaged our economy.

This is economically illiterate garbage.

The Tories have no more 'spent all the money' or 'maxed out the credit card' than Labour had in 2009/10 when Cameron made the same silly claim.

Also debt is not the highest since WW2 πŸ™„

Damning, but entirely justified - and in some ways reassuring that the British public can see it ...

Research shows 'just 9% of the public said they trusted politicians to tell the truth'

With inveterate truth-twisters like Sunak and Starmer in charge it's hardly surprising
