Such a pleasure to show a new governor around The wonderful Winterton Federation yesterday as part of her Induction Process. First day back after Easter & lovely to see our children learning, playing & telling us about what they were doing. It reminds us why we do what we do.

Ethics approved! Data collection can begin - so exciting after all the months/years of reading and planning! I can't wait to actually start talking to governor colleagues!

Piece on Sure Start free to read here. A cost effective programme enhancing life chances of poor children. A series of policy mistakes saw it diluted and effectively ended. We have chosen a different route: childcare subsidies for working families, not support for poor families.

Sure Start worked. It had big long term effects on the educational achievement of poor children. Its demise is a study in policy failure - over centralisation, over extension, poor data, 'not invented here syndrome'. thetimes.co.uk/article/sure-s…

We've never read The Culture Code as a it's available cheaply on second-hand sites, so that's another option for this summer. Any other suggestions?
So far we have Board Talk & a suggestion about a book about minutes - title?

Bring back the Children’s Centres - make them Family ones - and do it properly, like this. It works. If anyone ever wants a decent coffee and to see how Strive works, give me a shout.

Sent my amended ethics application to my supervisor today for her to check I am on the right track with it EveryDayInApril Lots of useful sections in it for the ethics bit of my thesis so tomorrow I will do a bit of organising for that Chapter.

Hi Alan - you and I will need to have a chat sometime about the conference workshop on June 20th. Let me know when you are at a point to start thinking about it and we can maybe fix a Zoom to chat it over.
