“Semiconductors is usually where the conversation goes — but Taiwan produces many more electronics. And our supply chain is more dependent on other things other than semiconductors there.”

“There'd be new strategic advantages to the Chinese for projecting military power from that unmovable aircraft carrier that's jutting out further into the Western Pacific. That would mean domination of sea lines & choke points — particularly of Japan & the Philippines.”

“Xi Jinping calls recovering Taiwan the essence of rejuvenation. In other words, they can't rejuvenate successfully by 2049 unless they recover Taiwan. So it'd be a major victory.”

What would China gain?
