From 15th to 20thApril, NMI advisors escorted an 🇮🇶delegation to Rome (Italy), in order to conduct a fact-finding visit to NATO and Italian Simulation Institutions. The visit aimed to strengthen the 🇮🇶 capability in the use of simulation systems.

On 21-22 of April the 🇮🇶 Ground Forces Command hosted a two-day workshop on Women, Peace and Security, organized by Women Affairs Department in the Ministry of Defense and NMI. The course was delivered by 🇮🇶 Military Medical School, after being trained on the topic by NMI.

On 21st April NMI PSE and MAD advisors visited the Iraqi Air Force College (AFC) to continue the momentum of engaging AFC in advisory activities, and give information about NMI’s strategy to support the AFC and the upcoming advisory workshops.

On 18th April, Iraqi Chief of Defence, NMI DCOM and PSE Director attended the graduation ceremony of “Junior Officers Course” at Command College (CC). In his speech, Dean of CC congratulated the graduating students and expressed his gratitude to NMI for their contributions.

From 11th March to 14th April, NMI PSE advisors conducted a Physical Training (PT) Workshop for PT instructors at Iraqi Military College, where its Deputy Dean presented certificates on 14th April. The workshop provided the attendants the NATO approach to physical training.

On April 08th, COM NMI visited the Defence University For Military Studies (DUFMS) and met its Commander and the Dean of Iraqi National Defence College. They discussed different topics, possibilities to improve current processes, and further cooperation between NATO and DUFMS.

Today we received the sad news of the passing of Mrs. Carolina Montessori, the spouse of H. E. Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Fuad Mohammed Hussein.

Our hearts go out to Minister Fuad Hussein and his loved ones during this time of sorrow.

On 31 March, NMI Ambassador Sonnemans met with Deputy National Security Advisor Dr. Essam al-Sadi to discuss the High Level Dialogue for Partnership between NATO and Iraq, and the ongoing cooperation in the Security Sector.

On March 26th, the NMI Commander Lt. General Agüero, met with the Commander of the Iraqi Naval Force, Lt. General Mazen Abdul Wahed Kabayan, in the Navy Command Headquarter. Their discussion involved mutual cooperation, specifically regarding the areas of training and advice.

On March 25th, NMI Commander and PSE Director met the Dean of Iraqi Command College. They witnessed one of the sessions of the Military Decision-Making Process Workshop, supported by NMI advisors and Command College Faculty Members.

On March 24-27, NMI TDD advisors conducted “Troop Leading Procedures in Urban and Underground Operations Course” at Besmayah Training Center to 🇮🇶instructors and officers to teach the NATO approach to Troop Leading Procedures and Mission Analysis for Urban and Underground Warfare

On March 18-21, NMI TDD advisors supported a dynamic seminar on NATO ATP-45, focused on warning, reporting and hazard prediction of Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear incidents. Over 20 Iraqi Security Forces Chemical Advisors from different Departments attended

NMI TDD’s advisory mission since 2021 at Besmayah Training Centre (BETC) consist of the Center’s
curriculum review, BETC instructor’s faculty development and BETC’s individual development.

NMI MAD advisors and EUAM in Iraq conducted a 6-day workshop at Ministry of Interior on “Risk management and first aid of cultural heritage after a natural disaster”, which provided a forum for discussion on the role of heritage experts within Police forces in natural disasters.
