I spoke with students at Columbia University University’s Teachers College, Columbia University this week on how empathy drives 🇮🇪’s priorities at the 🇺🇳 United Nations across peace & security🕊️, development🌱, and human rights⚖️.

Great discussion, incl on reasons for hope in today’s world 🌎 despite global challenges.

Amb Mythen joined members of the Irish United Nations Veterans Association 🇮🇪🇺🇳 for a wreath-laying ceremony to commemorate the 88 Irish peacekeepers who lost their lives in service overseas.

It was great to meet young leaders in social entrepreneurship from Wesleyan University this morning.

Among other issues, we discussed the climate crisis, gender equality, overcoming polarization, and what brings us hope.

Journalists & media workers play an essential role in sharing information and fostering open dialogue. Yet across the world, they face harassment & attacks for their work.

On Int’l Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists, I call for accountability for all such crimes.

Today is #UNDay , marking 78 years since the United Nations Charter entered into force.

This day serves as a reminder of what multilateralism can achieve, and why it is needed.

We must work together to promote & protect the principles and values enshrined in the Charter. #IAPR
