Today, I became the first Jewish-American political appointee to resign from the Biden-Harris administration over its policies in Gaza. Here is my resignation letter:

Israel bombed a three-floor residential building crammed with displaced families in Nuseirat Camp, middle of the Gaza Strip.
Large numbers of civilians are under the rubble.

Israeli forces fatally shot Al Jazeera correspondent #ShireenAbuAkleh on this day two years ago as she covered their raid on the Jenin refugee camp in the occupied West Bank.

We spoke to several of the iconic reporter’s colleagues and friends on the day she was killed in 2022.

It’s been 2 years since my aunt #ShireenAbuAkleh was killed by an Israeli soldier and life has not been the same since. No one has been held accountable & the U.S. has failed our family in holding the killer responsible.

Today, May 11, marks 2 years since Palestinian-American journalist Shireen Abu Akleh was shot and killed by Israeli defense forces while wearing a vest with 'Press' clearly written across it.

NEW: Israeli forces used a US weapon to conduct a strike that killed seven civilian relief workers in Lebanon.

Israel’s assurances to the United States that it is abiding by the laws of war ring hollow. The US needs to cut off arms to Israel.

To me, this recognition is really for the partners and advocates who are reimagining our MENA region and fighting for better; the teams who make and have made The Tahrir Institute for Middle East Policy what it is over the years; and the loved ones who are my backbone. 🙏🏼

At least 97 journalists have been killed since the start of the war, 92 of them Palestinian journalists killed in Israeli air strikes.

Those who remain are operating in impossible conditions.

They deserve this recognition.

They deserve protection.

They deserve our support.

It's World Press Freedom Day. And nobody deserves our respect, solidarity and admiration today more than the brave and determined journalists of Gaza. We would be blind without them and they are the best of us.

Today, May 1 marks four years since Egyptian photographer, filmmaker, and director Shady Habash died in pretrial detention; he had been held illegally and beyond the two year maximum.

Shady should be alive, free, and making art.

Thinking of him. Thinking of his loved ones.

DC turns out in support of the DMV student encampment at George Washington University.

Police have barricaded the encampment with students in the yard, but community members fill the street in front of it.
