We have a position for a fully funded PhD studentship on the representation and experiences of working class women in politics in the UK & Scotland, supervised by Despina Alexiadou, Christine Sylvester and me in beautiful Glasgow at Strathclyde - Government and Public Policy, in collaboration with Elect Her. Very excited to set up this network with Dr Ceri Fowler and Rosalind Shorrocks

The idea came out of a brilliant workshop in Manchester last year funded by PSA Women & Politics and EPOP

It finally happened. On flight this morning flight attendant came and asked me if I was a medical doctor*

*no one was ill it was 'just in case'

I am pleased to report students still know TLC.
Less pleased to report that one student knows it because their mum loves the song...

Given the renewed interest in political gender gaps, especially amongst younger voters, I thought I'd place these debates in context and link to a few pieces by myself and others which have investigated these questions in Britain and beyond... 1/12

Either way this cheered me up after a funding rejection an hour before the class!

It is the small things. Did a 'down with the kids' class exercise looking at TikTok to find causal claims. We found one about rubbing bananas into your face and better skin.

Today a student bought in a banana for me... either enjoyed my teaching or commenting on my skincare? 🍌
