On Yom HaShoah we remember the six million Jews who were murdered during the Holocaust. In their memory, we reaffirm our commitment to fighting antisemitism today and every day.

We also pay tribute to the survivors for their remarkable contributions to the Jewish community.

Appolinaire Kageruka was 24 years old, and working as a teacher, when the genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda began 30 years ago, in April 1994.

Here he speaks about how he hid from the killers, and witnessed the aftermath of the murder of thousands of people in a church.
