Hello… I am back and nearing the completion of the manuscript!

I am in need of some crowd sourcing research help. Does anyone know of a source to answer the question, which non-pitcher has appeared in the most no-hit games?

Thank you!

As we ready for the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum ⚾ announcement, a friendly reminder that Jim Gilliam received zero votes for the Hall of Fame. Only player to homer in both Negro Leagues East-West All-Star Game and MLB All-Star Game. Won 4 World Series and played in 7. 1953 Rookie of the Year.

Sorry to learn of Tommy Davis’ passing before I could connect with him.

G3 of 1963 World Series. Bottom of first. Gilliam BB with one out. WO by Jim Bouton moves Gilliam to second. Next pitch is a shot by Davis off Richardson’s leg scoring Gilliam. LA wins 1-0 behind Drysdale.

Finally, Jim Gilliam. We might miss his peak, MLEs treat him as teenager who would not be in MLB but he was an NeL all-star at this time. Also, its me so I need to include him!

Why do I like GIlliam more than MLEs? Eric made (not unreasonable) assumption that he would not have played in MLB as a teenager. BUT he was REALLY GOOD. AS 47-50 at 17-20, possibly MVP level in 48-49. Depends on how we think of young Gilliam, early peak or developing player?

Today in fun Gilliam trivia… Jim scored the first Dodger run in Dodger Stadium history on April 10, 1962, and slugged the first Dodger HR in Dodger Stadium history on April 11, 1962.

Interviewed Pee Wee for this book. Very nice gentleman with good stories about playing alongside Gilliam. Happy Birthday, Nate!

Lots of connections to Gilliam. Hodges and Wills as former teammates, but George Scales was more influential in Gilliam’s development as a baseball player than anyone. Fingers crossed Tubby gets in!

This is great, and congratulations to those selected.

George 'Tubby' Scales had a profound influence on Gilliam's career and life. He helped make him a switch-hitter, moved him to second base with the Baltimore Elite Giants, and gave him the nickname 'Junior'.

Did you know Jim Gilliam did not receive a single vote for the Hall of Fame? Not one. I’m not saying he belongs in the Hall, but surely 4 WS titles and a ROY (after a career in the Negro Leagues) should resonate with at least one voter.

Dodgers game is frustrating right now. Let’s try some trivia…

Jackie, Campanella, Doby, Minoso, Paige, Banks, and Gilliam are the only players in history to do what?

This is pretty cool. Steve Dittmore, PhD caught up with a man in Arkansas who has over 23,000 pieces of Dodgers memorabilia, including this 1890 program and scorebook
