Jarred Kelenic met with the Seattle media.

Asked how he's different offensively now than in Seattle, he led with: “I think a little bit more relaxed.' He then explained that, hitting at the bottom of the lineup, he only needs to get on base because RAJ and friends are next.

When Jarred Kelenic broke his foot last summer, baseball was taken away from him. He looked himself in the mirror and asked, “Well, now who am I?”

From this, came a lesson that changed his life: He needed to fill his cup with things that weren’t baseball.

Ahead of a return to Seattle, Jarred Kelenic opened up about the struggles of adjusting to MLB pressure (like death threats) and how a foot fracture showed him what his life was missing.

'That didn't just come overnight,' he said of his transformation.

“I’ve been through adversity where the game was taken away from me. This is different. I’m healthy. It’s a different wait. But those times taught me different things. …”

I sat down with Michael Penix Jr. to discuss what’s made him who he is today. ajc.com/sports/atlanta…

“Basically from January 1, it was, ‘Let’s get after it. Let’s help this team. Let’s do what you’re supposed to do and try to get back to who you were before.’”

Chris Sale keeps looking more like his old self, but don’t tell him. He’s knocking on wood.

The Braves beat the Guardians, 6-2. In a matchup between the teams with the two best records, the Braves punched first. Chris Sale was excellent.

Atlanta is 18-6.

Former Brave Stephen Vogt is in the opposing dugout, which always seemed like a possibility to Brian Snitker.
“It doesn’t surprise me that he’s running a club now,” Snitker said. “And he’ll do it for probably as long as he wants.”

Chris Sale has retired 14 in a row. He's at 82 pitches. The Guardians haven't reached base since the second inning.

The Braves' starters have been really good over the last week.

If you want to take this a step further: Marcell Ozuna's 31 RBI are nine more than anyone else in the National League.

All of this is impressive considering the Braves have played a few fewer games than many other clubs because of early rainouts.

After a two-run double to give the Braves a lead over Cleveland, Marcell Ozuna has 31 RBI -- six more than anyone else in the sport.

In today's newsletter, we put the Braves' hot start into focus. (There are notes at the bottom as well).

Something that stands out: The Braves have played all four of the final teams from the NLCS/ALCS already. They are 10-2 in those games.

Ozzie Albies needed only the minimum 10 days to recover from a fractured toe. And it was probably even less than that, considering he's worked out all week.

He's back.
