Replying to the barrage of racism against my son Sheku Kanneh-Mason this week. So many feel it’s ok to call for deportation, flogging, sending him ‘back to Africa’ and to use ‘Ni**er’ against someone trying to engage in a conversation about music and inclusion. Horror, rage, heartbreak.
I am delighted and honoured to take up the role of president Chester Philharmonic Orchestra
Fantastic to hear Sheku Kanneh-Mason on BBC Radio 4 Desert Islands discs today talking about how necessary and important music education is for ALL young people. We share his vision for a future where the gap between those who have access and those who don't is permanently sealed.
Only 8 pieces of music? What will he choose? Can’t wait to hear Sheku Kanneh-Mason on Desert Island Discs BBC Radio 4 this Sunday 11.15am🏝️
