Also, the word Aria denotes something beautiful, and it's sad to take it and make it synonymous with something so awful.

This video alone (from PMID: 19217869) should have disqualified the prion hypothesis assumptions 15 years ago. We can literally see the fibrils unable to maintain elongation-based templating even for one generation due to surface-catalyzed branching.

Why the insistence on misrepresenting CSF Aβ42 in models always as something going up while the actual data always shows it's going down?? nejm.org/doi/full/10.10…

I wouldn't call it replication as surface nucleation doesn't convey any biological information (not a sequence nor a structure), but it's a good reminder of how amyloids grow: NOT via elongation & fission but on surfaces which can't control polymorphism.

Terribly damaging misinformation. Families noticing disease slowing is a cruel exaggeration and John Hardy’s “you’ll be in a care home after 7 years instead of 5” was a scientifically unsupportable statement that people will latch onto. Once we abandon Science we are in trouble.

How does this rubbish get published in Nature? We know exactly how genes work & this underlies modern biology & medicine, including multiple cures for many cancers. No new revolutions are needed, revolting against correct ideas will bring only wrong ones. nature.com/articles/d4158…

Nadia E. M. Simon Mead For me, 'conformational clouds' go into the same pile as 'toxic (non-fibrillar) oligomeric species': non-useful concepts that have slipped into the field and are taken by many at face value without sufficient evidence. (But opinions on this will obviously vary! 🤪)
