About the Society of Authors vote today - I think it's way way too late & I don't think it will make a practical difference BUT the hypocrisy of the society taking a stand on Ukraine and Black Lives Matter and not Gaza is deeply worrying and for that I feel it's worth voting.

This might be the most beautiful graphic to ever appear in a scientific paper.

I see these everywhere but I have a problem… I love tropes too much. I like to pick them up and shake them like snowglobes. My fabulous editor helped me select some favourites, but has so many I would love to see which are your favourites! In any case…

Happened to find myself on the Victoria line today admiring the tiles at Blackhorse Road underground station. They were designed by Hans Unger (1915-1975) in 1969.

Felt an intense need to be outdoors yesterday, so gathered up my reading & writing, took a train as far as I could sensibly go, then walked & walked through hail & snow. Woke to scenes like Alan Garner books: rocky outcrops rising from clouds, sounds of curlews, plovers, owls.

“This is a death potion for the river…”.

Steve Backshall has commissioned private analysis of water from the Thames, results are in & they are horrifying.
“Treat the water as though it is a biohazard.”
Further analysis & rage from Steve below & on Instagram (@ backshall.steve)

So exhausting. We are soon back to books like ‘men are from mars, women are from venus’, and ‘men can’t cry, and women can’t read maps’
Well done- is this what you’ve wanted feminists?

This is an absolutely bizarre assertion in the Cass report. Transgender lives, trans men AND trans women, are documented across western history. One of my favourite trans men in UK history is Charley Wilson. You can read about his life here: inews.co.uk/opinion/victor…

The Cass Review rejected around 50 studies (98%) submitted to it, but accepted studies not focused on trans people. It claims 24 year olds are children. It claims that toys children play with is determined by biology.

This report is anti-science and is for ideological zealots.

The Cass review isn't some 'evidence based' sensible report.

It's a straight up transphobic and conservative document.

Within it it talks about 'girls toys and boys toys', and the need to restrict transitioning for over 25's.

Shameful that Labour wants to adopt it
