I'm so proud of my student KuanChan Chen for today speaking at the EdinUniCVS weekly student/postdoc seminar series. He gave an excellent presentation about his PhD research into #CaloricRestriction : so many interesting findings to build on. Great job, Kuan! #ProudSupervisor
There's no better way to start the week than by hearing many interesting new results at our weekly lab meeting! Last week was exhausting so this is just what I needed 🥳
Thanks Benjamin Thomas, Yoshiko, KuanChan Chen, Stefanie and Rachel for being a great team 🙂
Javier Gonzalez I also really like this 2010 paper from Bruss et al. Reassuringly, our unpublished studies (led by KuanChan Chen) also find that mice increase DNL during 30% CR. Interestingly, there are sex differences in this effect. Aiming to publish this in the next year or so...
Huge thanks to our funders Medical Research Council British Heart Foundation CSO(Health)Scotland & our talented team of scientists: Karla Suchacki Benjamin Thomas Yoshiko M Ikushima KuanChan Chen Claire Fyfe Edinburgh Imaging 💙 A Holly Woodward Eleanor Brain GIllian Gray Roland Stimson Nik & Professor Alexandra Johnstone! 🥳
A big thanks to Yoshiko Ikushima and KuanChan Chen for working on these important new experiments, and of course to Karla Suchacki, Benjamin Thomas & all other co-authors for their hard work (and continued patience!).
Hopefully the peer-reviewed paper will be out soon... 🤞🤞🤞
…and I forgot to thank Ben’s co-supervisor GIllian Gray, whose cardiovascular expertise was essential for guiding Ben’s PhD research. Thanks, too, to Ben’s current & former lab mates Yoshiko, KuanChan Chen, Karla Suchacki, A & others for completing a great team.
