When I was a kid guys were running over catchers in stadiums built when Taft was president. And we liked it that way.

We are all on Teams.

No matter your team, be a great teammate.

Great teammates are...

- Positive
- On-Time
-Β Engaged
- Prepared
- Respectful
- Supportive
- Committed

Great teammates are great leaders.

They lead by example.

Be a great teammate!

The amount of coaches who are all about the kids and only do it for the kids YET have only pictures of themselves coaching 😳πŸ€ͺ😜😳

KIRK HERBSTREIT ON PARENTING

'I'm cool with my kids failing... It's part of the process. Every day there is adversity... They have to learn how to deal with junk... It's okay to make a mistake. Get back up and let's keep going forward.'

Weak teammates worry about what they can get from the team.
Great teammates focus on what they give to the team.

Weak leaders worry about what they can get from their team.
Great leaders focus on what they can give to their team.

Choose your perspective.

You are responsible for your mindset.
You are responsible for your effort.
You are responsible for your words.
You are responsible for your attitude.
You are responsible for your energy.
You are responsible for your impact.

Take ownership.

More often than not, the person is the problem, not the incentive system. No incentive system turns mediocre into extraordinary.

PARENTS: If you only cheer for your child during an athletic event, don't be surprised if others do the same and before you know it there is an atmosphere of selfishness and entitlement surrounding with your child's team.

The travel system for baseball, soccer, basketball, and volleyball are broken.

The mindset: more games = more development

The reality: more games = more injuries and burnout

The healthiest and most talented athletes I’ve ever trained took some time away from their sport.

Jack Nicklaus going eagle-birdie-birdie on holes 15-17 of the 1986 Masters never gets old to watch. One of the greatest stretches of golf in Masters history.

Random thought from discussions at the Final Four:

Coaches should have a MY mentality, with an OUR delivery.

Embrace ownership, but share credit.

β€œMY player, who I developed, was first team all conference.”

β€œOUR player was first team all conference” isn’t less impressive, but it does remove your ego.

MY mentality = it is MY responsibility to do the job well.

OUR delivery = when I do the job well, WE all win/suceed.

Burger King brought it strong with these Star Wars glasses. This set is still in great condition, probably because the child who got them died of lead poisoning three days later.
