Hedgerow trees flowering today near Faversham. Cherry plum with flowers on green young twigs, and reflexed sepals and Blackthorn having smaller flowers on brown twigs and sepals that are spreading rather than reflexed. #wildflowerhour
The male and female flowers of Dog’s Mercury, Mercurialis perennis, found today along a road verge close to home, near Faversham for #wildflowerhour
For #wildflowerhour #violetchallenge I found Early Dog Violet today on a road verge in my village near Faversham. Pointy sepals and tiny sepal appendages distinguishing them from Sweet violets and Common dog violets respectively.
For #wildflowerhour #violetchallenge I found these, and I think they are all Sweet violets, Viola odorata, in various colours around my village near Faversham today.
This handmade branch with wren is full of catkins which have all been wired so you can pose them with a little twist or let them hang straight. I love seeing their pops of yellow in the hedgerow & the way they shake like little lamb’s tails in the wind
