So important:
'When the Dali cargo ship demolished that bridge support on Tuesday, it also obliterated all the ridiculous lies and myths our demagogues have been spreading around immigration.'

Passing the governor's education budget proposal will be a big Step 1.

But closing our state's harmful, unconstitutional school funding gaps is not a one-and-done project.

The state will need to keep taking big steps, year after year.

In our Pottstown Schools finance meeting discussing our 24/25 budget.
Trying to pass a budget on a deadline when Legislação Diária doesn't follow their own deadline or tell us what state basic ed funding will be is nonsense.

Ohio’s EdChoice expansion as implemented was not the school-choice program Statehouse leaders promised.
The data suggest instead it became a big taxpayer subsidy for those students already in private schools.

Underfunding has not only had drastic effects on students, including class size increases and slashing school library funding, but it also has placed an undue burden on residents through increased property taxes.

There are bills to open PA primaries so unaffiliated/3rd party voters can vote.
Bills were voted out of House State Gov Committee.
Will leaders give them a vote?
There's also a bill, introduced by Senator Dan Laughlin. Voters are waiting.

PA House Republicans 🇺🇸 No one is forcing local schools to ⬆️ taxes. They are just naming the fact that a portion of the adequacy shortfall is due to local SDs keeping their property tax artificially low while the rest of PA provides the lion's share of education $ for their students. .Rep. Josh Siegel's Allentown district & 386 others have resource gaps because the state doesn't level the playing field for districts with weak local tax bases. Commonwealth Court's ruling means the legislature must fix the problem; the status quo cannot be allowed to continue.

I was grateful to get a chance to share the Pottstown Schools story at the Pennsylvania House Majority Policy Committee hearing today. As I said in my remarks, my community is one of many in Pennsylvania that has been harmed by the underfunding of our schools- both at student and local economy levels.

Pottstown SD Board Member Laura Johnson: 'Because Pennsylvania has relied so heavily on property taxes to fund local school districts, we have suffered major educational setbacks as well.'

My Pottstown Schools daughters watched this and found it pretty alarming that their senator would say this. They rightly thought that kids shouldn't have to join the military in order to afford college.
