Somehow, Satie wrote 'Uspud', a 30-minute score that sounds like mediaeval Morton Feldman, or some kind of gothic minimalism, in 1892. It's extraordinary.

'ANTICLOCK', first performed on 1st April, five years ago. The disembodied voice acts as a kind of malevolent, dysfunctional, speaking metronome. youtube.com/watch?v=8Ug1fB…

Fellow weird broadcasting fans - BBC Radio 4 Extra is at this moment broadcasting Andrew Sachs' 1978 binaural radio play 'The Revenge', which comprises sound effects and actors, but no dialogue at all. It's gripping... bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00…

I once did a screentest for a Richard Curtis film. In which I sang Scott Walker's 'Farmer in the City' for him, after he said he didn't know any of Scott's post-60s music. Didn't get the part; it was written out of the final version of the script.

So, I'm currently working on a new album and an EP project. If you buy anything from my back catalogue, proceeds go towards funding them. I'm always very grateful for any purchases; my record label is entirely DIY (staff = me alone). X x leochadburn.bandcamp.com

Really looking forward to these gigs next month, featuring a new piece 'Flower Dictionary' by me, plus music by the wonderful Laura Cannell and some Renaissance heartbreakers. The Marian Consort really are amazing. See you in Norwich and/or Oxford...

Rehearsing this evening ahead of these concerts next month, which include a new little piece by me. The Marian Consort sound absolutely amazing. Ravishing singing. Come and hear them if you're near Norwich/Oxford.

Patrick Wolf and I last worked together around 20 years ago. I joined him onstage again on Tuesday to revisit some very special songs. Smashing gig and a joyous evening. X

Just tidying away the hundreds of sheets of paper & sticky notes that were the sketches for 'English Dancing Master', my new piece premiered by PhaedraEnsemble last weekend. Thanks a million to them, and to everyone who came down and said such nice things about it afterwards. X

I've written a strange new piece for the brilliant Phaedra Ensemble. It's a kind of science-fiction baroque dance suite in 20 movements. Come and hear it at Cafe Oto in December, alongside wondrous music by my friend Cassandra Miller and up-and-coming composer Gavin Bryars.

I've done a fair bit of writing about music in the last 20 years, but none of it has ever been read out on the radio before! Thanks for the kind words and your lovely voice kate molleson (as part of this great Gavin-Bryars-centric show, 12 minutes in...) bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0…

This was excellent last night: mesmeric, extraordinarily focussed playing from Angharad Davies, and Ed's album-length piece for multi-tracked Kate Ellis is so beautiful: like a big pillow of sound.
