Given how popular rail renationalisation is (65%), we should be talking more about how it’s been a good week for Labour. ipsos.com/en-uk/3-in-5-b…

And d) it’s very obviously a regional growth mechanism, although clearly I won’t be winning any mayoral elections soon with that on my leaflet

1. The single biggest policy issue that cuts across all these elections is public transport. This is a) because public transport outside of London is rubbish and b) because it’s the single biggest budget item mayors have. (And also c, it’s tangible)

Britain is a great country, full of pride and potential, and boundless ambition.

Your vote tomorrow is the first step toward a government that will stop the chaos, turn the page and give Britain its future back.

Tomorrow, vote Labour.

The FDA has today launched a judicial review of the Safety of Rwanda Act. We do not welcome this action, but neither are we prepared to shy away from it as we must protect the interests of our members and the integrity of the Civil Service Code.

We are sad to announce that former Councillor Chauhdry Rashid JP has passed away. He served the city with distinction for decades and had the honour of becoming Lord Mayor of Birmingham in May 2008. Our thoughts are with his family and all who knew him during this sad time.

29 April 1945. Troops of the US 7th Army’s 45th Infantry Division liberated prisoners in the notorious Dachau concentration camp, near Munich. It had opened 5 weeks after Adolf Hitler took power as German chancellor in 1933 and became a gruesome model for all the German camps.

in 1945, Dachau Concentration Camp was liberated by US Army soldiers.

Dachau was the first concentration camp to be constructed by the Nazis and one of the last to be liberated. Over 180,000 people had been imprisoned in the camp by the time it was liberated.

This is just OUTSTANDING. At last the truth be told. He is explaining that as we left the EU we also came out of the Dublin Agreement where we could return refugees to France or any EU country where they had directly travelled from.

I'm living in a country where on eve of election Home Office/Interior Ministry is using public £ to post film of asylum seekers being rounded up for deportation to a country only deemed 'safe' by our govt, not our Supreme Court. Have to remind myself it's UK 2024 not Germany 1934

An offensive in Rafah would be a humanitarian disaster, as well as risking the ceasefire and hostage deal. It must not go ahead.

Extreme and dangerous rhetoric from Ministers like Smotrich must be condemned.

We need an immediate ceasefire.

Sending the first 300 migrants to Rwanda costs £1.8m each. To put that in context, school funding is around £7,600 per child per year. So the cost of sending one migrant to Rwanda would get 234 children education for a year. Is that a good use of money?

Sometimes a brave politician comes along, connects with the enormity of avoidable grief (sadly, largely because of her own life story), listens and then acts. Here is Kim Leadbeater MBE MP doing just that.

4,935 people were killed or seriously injured in crashes involving young…
