Yesterday a pair of female long-tailed ducks were spotted on the reserve and are still showing today!

These are coastal wintering birds and are currently heading north to their summer breeding grounds in Iceland/Finland.

Many thanks to Craig Storton Photography for the image πŸ™

The long wait is over! At last, 21 days after her mate LM12 returned from migration, NC0 laid her first egg of the season at 10:48am, in a welcome lull in the strong winds.

Keep your eyes peeled for a glimpse in the cosy nest cup!
