On the wild Atlantic edge of Ireland, gnarled oak trees dip their crooked branches into the waters and emerge carrying seaweed.

These branches play host to a coral reef of lichens - from the scallop-shelled Degelia atlantica to the kidney-fruited Nephroma parile:

Today at #ISA29 , DSCC & Greenpeace International expressed concerns with the ISA arguing against the ability of #OSPAR to take steps under its own mandate to protect species & habitats from #DeepSeaMining within its area. We saw the same issue with the Convention on Migratory Species.
