Saddened to hear of the passing of one of my favorite scribes. His memoirs HAND TO MOUTH, THE WINTER JOURNAL & THE INVENTION OF SOLITUDE are brilliant. Auster even dabbled in Hollywood and I love the film he wrote SMOKE (1995) directed by Wayne Wang

What a nice Sports Saturday. I have been a die hard fan of both these teams since I was a little kid and today the Mets won their 6th game in a row and their 4th series in a row by beating the Dodgers in L.A. and then my gritty Knicks beat the 76ers for Game 1 of NBA Playoffs!!!
