This month marks the 52nd anniversary of Nixon declaring a war on drugs, which is a war on people. After decades of harm, one of the most critical steps we can take to end the disastrous drug war is to decriminalize all drugs and invest in health alternatives.

Seattle City Council Not quite accurate. Seattle City Attorney's Office can already prosecute use on buses and at bus stops via SMC 12A.12.040. And Seattle Police Department has had the authority to seize drugs as contraband since 1981. RCW 69.50.505. No one's lacking for enforcement authority.

And Lisa Herbold is on to something.
