Our LGBT veterans are an important part of the defence community. Today Rt. Hon Ben Wallace MP apologised to those affected by historic LGBT Armed Forces policies. These policies do not reflect todayβs military, and we are proud to be a military where everyone is welcome.
Rt. Hon Ben Wallace MP Hanno Pevkur Building on the UK-Estonia π¬π§πͺπͺ roadmap agreed upon in 2022, the joint statement includes:
1οΈβ£ Agreement to work together to continue the development of the πͺπͺ Division
2οΈβ£ Several π¬π§ staff officer positions embedded into the πͺπͺ Division

Today, 23 years after the UK Armed Forces' #LGBT ban was lifted, @Fightingwpride & Northern Hub for Military Research Northumbria Uni held the 1st UK Annual Research Conference reporting on the impacts of the ban, with huge thanks to the amazing veterans, presenters & 37 organisations who took part!
As of yesterday, 23 years have passed since the ban on LGBT+ people serving in the British Armed Forces was lifted. We think of all those affected, and those who fought so tirelessly to see it lifted. We are here whenever and for however you may need us. Thank you. #LGBTVeterans
