MapRI in partnership with ACTOGETHER UGANDA with funding from Open Mapping Hub - Eastern and Southern Africa has implemented a one year project on profiling information about settlement areas in Hoima City.

Slyvia Nalumaga Balyesiima the deputy Lord Mayor welcomed the Maps, Atlases and other products adding they are going to benchmark on this factual information for proper planning of the city.

UPDATE: Hoima City leaders and Chairpersons of 19 settlement areas in Hoima City received Maps and Atlases as well as gadgets from MapRI which contain information regarding boundaries and the state of social facilities of those areas.

Over the past months, MAPRI has been diligently working to collect geospatial #data and promote inclusivity and resilience in the informal settlements of Hoima and Lira cities in #Uganda . To learn more about this project, visit: bit.ly/MapRIproject

Today, we joined our partners Uganda Junior Rangers in the clean-up of Namalusu island and mapping #plastic hotspot areas along the shores! Fellow countrymen and women, we are chocking Lake Victoria with plastics #WeCanDoBetter #EndPlasticPollution National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) SharedGeo MINISTRY OF WATER AND ENVIRONMENT 🇺🇬

In addition to the hard copy maps shared with local government LC 1 leaders, we have also developed online resources including dashboards that will support the Lira City Council in resource allocation in these communities
