A frequent excuse often cited highlighting racial objectivity bias.

The views & inclinations of whiteness are somehow accepted as objective neutral.

There’s a lot of work for the ABC to do in response to this crisis. The experience of Antoinette Lattouf is a mere flashpoint; the underlying problems are deeply entrenched. The future of Australian public broadcasting depends on how responsibly the ABC works through this period.

To imagine that Anglo-Australian broadcasters and journalists somehow have a monopoly on objectivity is gobsmacking. To suggest that all or only non-Anglo-Australian media professionals might be politically or culturally compromised is itself a politically compromising statement.

Former ABC Media Watch host and Chair of ABC Alumni Jonathan Holmes on RN Breakfast saying there’s a conflict between the ABC’s objectivity and diversity responsibilities is an astonishing and truly disturbing claim. Good to hear Patricia Karvelas commit to exploring this further.
