I’m featured in the new issue of Granta in a wide ranging interview, with sharp questions from Thomas Meaney on the past, present, and possible futures of extraction. granta.com/the-extracted-…

With the economy going so well, and with Biden posing no genuine threat to the rich, I am a bit surprised to see the lackluster support from the wealthy to maintain status quo over the potential chaos Trump could bring. Who has done the best writing on this?

A lack of union power has been a key contributor to the boom in inequality & the lack of good jobs for many Americans—especially those w/out 4-yr degrees. It's hard to overstate the significance of the booming labor movement & what it can do for workers, communities, & democracy

A few months ago a HS student reached out requesting to chat about the Civilian Climate Corps and the case for a Federal Job Guarantee. The student just emailed me the documentary he put together for his capstone.

Thrilled to see this comment by the FTC. When we talk about common sense rent regulations, like rent control, we often fail to properly account for the role it can play in regulating the market power of landlords wielded via 1) concentration and 2) collusion.

1. As landlords turn to algorithms to set rents, they should be aware that price fixing through an algorithm is still price fixing.

A brief by FTC & Department of Justice makes clear that there is no AI exemption from the antitrust laws.

Utterly insane that we used to have a Federal Reserve where the 20 year head of Research and Statistics proposed a job guarantee **in his official remarks at an FOMC meeting**

Landlords opposition to rent control and claims about neg effects on supply are essentially the exact thing as businesses being against minimum wages & claiming they lead to less hiring/layoffs.

And guess what? The empirical data support neither claim.

What a powerful statement that is somehow completely missed in our conversations about the economic costs of the transition off fossil fuels. Also raises great questions about the financing mechanisms—providing a greater justification for debt financing. link.springer.com/article/10.100…
