The Society of Professional Journalists ethics code is clear: “Do not pay for news.”

This week’s #TrumpTrials testimony shows National Enquirer is an ethical aberration, as I told NBC News

The defense at the #TrumpTrials said that journalists paying sources -- or pay for news it doesn't publish -- are standard practices.

That isn't true. As it says in the @SPJ_tweets Code of Ethics: “Don’t pay for news.”
