Great literature rises above politics and tribalism. I know this can be such a delicate topic right now and this is why it is so essential to be promoting Georgian language and culture internationally.

I particularly found Dato's answer to a question from an audience member on whether Georgians should be reading Russian literature very touching. His response was, 'Yes, of course we should be reading Russian literature, because it's simply great literature.'

🥳 Congrats to all the authors and presses on this list, and especially to my fellow translators! Maya Jaggi announced it at the end of our OxfordLitFest panel today, and given my focus on preparing for the event, it honestly didn’t occur to me I might be on the list 🤓

The shortlist for the #EBRDLiteraturePrize2024 is out! Our judges Maya Jaggi Philippe Sands & Maureen Freely have selected 10 books from The EBRD countries of operation translated into English.

3 finalists will be announced next month and the winner in June
