Today we mark Victory in Europe Day. On this day, 8 May 1945, the Allies formally accepted Germany's unconditional surrender, signaling the official end of World War II in Europe.

Heritage friends: is anyone aware of any recent assessments of the condition of model villages in the U.K.?

Saltaire is obviously a famous example, but I'm intrigued as to why others are less well maintained and if heritage conservation orders are enforced across any of them!

A wonderful weekend exploring history. Visiting these places as a child inspired my love of history (thanks Mum and Dad!) and visiting them is now a key part of my downtime. Huge thank you to National Trust, Sandringham similar organisations for maintaining them!

1100 on Thursday 2nd May at Sefton Road United Reforned Church in Morecambe.

Margaret Robertson has no family, if anyone can attend would be lovely.

She was 102, a former PMRAFNS McIndoe nurse,looking after Guinea Pig Club injured

Huge thank you to Dr Edward Young for sharing research from his PhD thesis (now a book!) about the development of British and American aero engine manufacturers during the Second World War!
