I wrote a letter to the NYT on the museum climate protests.

The protesters’ message—stop burning fossil fuels—is correct and popular.

If museums stepped up on climate, they wouldn’t be targeted…

…& they should step up regardless.

Two days after the hottest day in history, it's worth asking: How much would you pay to keep climate change from ending human civilization? How does $200 trillion sound? What if I told you that was actually a bargain?

So should we stop burning the fossil fuels that make the wildfires more frequent and more ferocious—more damaging to kids—or carry on with business as usual?

I feel like a lot of people abroad are interested in what’s currently happening in France but lack context to understand how much police violence and institutional racism are rooted in this country. So I’d like to talk about many events of the past decades to clarify it.

The cure for climate anxiety:

“a fast, sweeping transition away from burning fossil fuels, which intensifies social inequalities, wrecks our health, & causes the ecological crisis from which we also suffer emotionally.”

This is another brilliant illustration of the fact that while the climate benefits of smart public policies can take years to manifest, the health benefits manifest almost immediately and primarily locally in the communities that show the good sense to implement the policies.

''The more oil, gas and coal we burn, the hotter it will get.' He doesn’t waste words when stating this stark, inconvenient truth. The rest of the book is dedicated to showing us the damage we’re causing and what we can still do.'

Miranda Massie Your analogy that it’s irresponsible to treat a cancer patient’s anxiety without also treating their cancer is spot on. We must treat the root causes. President Biden should declare the climate crisis a national emergency. The Medical Society Consortium on Climate & Health

'Imagine what could happen if the climate silence were broken and the supermajority support for action were expressed across our culture. Would Biden have approved the Willow Pipeline? Would Joe Manchin be pertinent?'
