#WW2 Cannon shell extracted from a gunner's face by Tom Gibson, former Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow President and Captain of a RAMC maxillofacial team. The shell is 8.5cm long, 2cm in diameter & weighs 147.3g. The patient didn't know it was there!! 😱

To celebrate #NationalSiblingsDay here are two stunning illustrations by brothers John (1763–1820) and Charles Bell (1774-1842). The Bell brothers were Scottish surgeons and anatomist but they were also talented artists and illustrated their own works.
Signatures in our Licentiates Register (1872) of Bankebehari Gupta & Zalnoor Allee Ahmed, the 1st South Asian doctors to be licensed by Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow. We're just starting to piece together their stories - you can read more here: tinyurl.com/2vymb526

In the end we present you with records of voluntary collections of money made to #gri from the board reports (1925 example)...a play on words but that’s part of the fun #Archive30
For today's #Archive30 we're looking at our Ronald Ross #ArchiveCollection . Ross won the Nobel Prize for Medicine for his work on malaria. The collection contains 1000s of items on his medical work, literary career & much more - Ross was a true polymath! rcp.sg/RossHub
Basking in the morning sunshine was the gem, a two faced clock peaking out of the A listed former Glasgow Citizen newspaper office and printing press. Now thecitizenglasgow restaurant and bar (I’d recommend the cocktails) the building has an enormous history.
Today's #Archive30 is all about #ArchiveFoodAndDrink and we think this lunch looks lovely! The photo was taken in Salonika c.1916 and shows nurse Annie Allan (centre) with Lieutenant Vine & Sister Cashmore. The photo is from our Scottish Women's Hospitals album

It's day 5 of #Archive30 and we think the rain soaked pavements in this lovely illustration perfectly reflect a #TypicalDay in springtime Glasgow 😆☔️
The artwork is by Muirhead Bone and shows a view of St Vincent Street looking west towards our College buildings (c.1911)

We were so excited to receive this donation - a journal belonging to George Buchanan, surgeon and Prof of Anatomy at Anderson's College. This journal tells the story of his life - we have 4 others in the collection detailing his time in Europe
