HOW ARE STUDENTS CONNECTED TO THE MORTARA CENTER? There are many opportunities for GU students to get involved with the Mortara Center! You can attend our free events, office hours with professors, student employment, and join the Mortara Undergraduate Research Fellowship.

WHO MANAGES THE CENTER? The building is led by Erik Voeten, the Building Director and SFS faculty member, who began his position as Mortara Director in January 2024. He works alongside the Mortara Center Assistant Director, student staff, fellows, and RA's.

WHERE DID OUR NAME COME FROM? Our center is named after Michael Mortara (SFS '71). Before his tragic passing in 2000, Michael served on the University’s Board of Directors. He envisioned this center for SFS that became a reality with the support of his wife, Virginia Mortara.

WHEN WAS THE MORTARA CENTER FOUNDED AND WHERE IS IT LOCATED? The Mortara Center officially opened in September 2005 and is a yellow brick building located on the corner of 36th and N St NW in Georgetown.
