After visiting Langemark, Plymouth College #BattlefieldsTrip2024 headed to Vancouver Crossroads to commemorate the site of the first use of deadly poison gas in warfare. A moving tribute to the men who stood so bravely in the face of such barbaric weapons. #LestWeForget
After visiting Ypres itself, Day 3 of Plymouth College #BattlefieldsTrip2024 saw us head to the preserved trench network at Sanctuary Wood and the Death Cells in Poperinge to learn the story of ordinary men fighting in the Ypres Salient. #LestWeForget
Day 2 of Plymouth College #BattlefieldsTrip2024 concluded with a visit to Mansell Copse, the Devonshire Cemetery on the Somme. An opportunity to reflect on what might have been had I been born 100 years earlier. ‘There, but by the grace of God go I…’ #LestWeForget
The final day of Plymouth College #BattlefieldsTrip2024 began with a visit to Langemark to see how German soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice are remembered. An important visit to help us appreciate the suffering that took place on both sides of the conflict. #LestWeForget
Day 3 of Plymouth College #BattlefieldsTrip2024 continued with a visit to Poperinge visit the wonderful Tubby's Talbot House. In the midst of man’s inhumanity to man, the house reminds us of the good we can find in people even in the darkest of times. #LestWeForget
Our final visit of Day 3 of Plymouth College #BattlefieldsTrip2024 saw us take part in a daily act of remembrance at the Menin Gate. Last Post Ass. Ieper continue to honour all who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. It was an honour to stand with them tonight. #LestWeForget
The final visit on Plymouth College #BattlefieldTrip2024 was to Tyne Cot, the largest Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery in the world, where nearly 12,000 soldiers - including OPM Club alumni - are commemorated. A demonstration of the scale of the suffering on the Western Front. #LestWeForget
