I have a carer at the moment because of recent surgery that left me unable to walk. It's minor but debilitating. Without my gorgeous, vv skilled, kind carer, I would be in big trouble. We need carers and they need their loved ones. This policy stinks.

Duncan Exley Sophia Moreau Have you seen the recent CharityJob research on salaries? 67% of entry level charity jobs outside Ldn pay less than real Living Wage. This has a huge effect on working class ppl entering sector, and v actionable for employers

Non profits in the US have a class/race problem. It's clear that there are those that believe Black folks shouldn't be allowed to occupy those spaces. Particularly when you understand how it's just a giant money laundering scheme here.

Sophia Moreau It'd be good to see further research on tribal (private school & posh uni) chimings between people *applying* for funding & people *granting* funding, how that works.

It's not just direct connections that count.
It's .. are you 'one of us'?

Charity sector processes (i.e. expenses) and the culture around them are unfit for purpose. Or rather, fit for purpose - designed for those with disposable cash and social capital.

Its open season on disabled people currently. Pay attention to the escalations of dehumanisation and targeted attacks.

From preventing GPs from doing sicknotes, even though recovery time assists on our delivery of work on our return, to doing away with disability benefits and…

Not me now re-evaluate if the private therapy I pay for that helps me not want to die is something I'll have to budget out of my life because the money that helps pay for it is under threat.

PIP helps me to be a 'productive member of society' I couldn't live without it.

Didn’t expect to read this, but so happy I did. Thanks for sharing this with me.

Big well done Duncan Exley, this was much needed and eye opening.

Sophia Moreau It's usually those with money and position that go on to have money and position. It's disappointing about charity execs but totally unsurprising.

That this is unsurprising doesn’t make it right.

Charities should be pushing for equity but instead their own internal structures give away that it’s culturally improbable.

Being a manager isn’t an inherent skill from one class over another, but it’s treated that way.

“Charity chief executives are twice as likely as the wider population to have gone to private school, rising to three times as likely for the biggest charities.”

We knew the non-profit sector had a class problem, but even I’m shocked to see the extent of it confirmed by these…

It’s Black maternal health week! Despite progress, Black women are still four times more likely to die in pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period in the UK (MBRRACE 2023)

Each day has a different theme all under the overarching goal of 'Advancing Black Maternal Health'

Tell me you don't know black people without telling me you don't know black people.

Black people are the most disproportionately-policed population. We are 9x more likely to be stop and searched.

It's tiring to keep seeing non-black people use us as an example of a population…
