One hundred years ago this date, the British Empire Exhibition opened at Wembley. In June 1924, Derby exhibited there in the Civic Hall for ten days. This summer Museum of Making at Derby Silk Mill there will be an exhibition and events to explore Empire and the Making of Modern Derby.

Today's lunch Museum of Making at Derby Silk Mill; pan-fried seabass (bought from the Victorian fishmonger 2 mins walk away), served on gorgeous Denby Pottery Halo tableware. Great value food, and a celebration of our chefs' craftsmanship. So proud of what the River Kitchen offers.

Fab day out taking my neighbours' Lego-loving son to Museum of Making at Derby Silk Mill, where we checked out the Lake District created by a Lego-loving artist. Then we chatted with the artist before making and displaying new Lego creations.

Today’s explorations have taken us to the fab Museum of Making at Derby Silk Mill in Derby … always a treasure trove and currently featuring a brilliant model of the Lake District made from Lego by artist Jon Tordoff.

(And glad to see it has recovered from the recent floods)

Yesterday, I went to Museum of Making at Derby Silk Mill with my neighbours' son. He asked if he could use my phone to take a few photos of things that interested him. He took 225 photos.
