After attending the Labor Day celebrations in Fort Portal Tourism City, I visited Rubona Dairy Stock Farm under NATIONAL ANIMAL GENETIC RESOURCES CENTRE &DATABANK which runs dairy, fish breeding programs plus animal feed production. Rubona is impressively breeding Ayrshire, Jersey and Friesian dairy cattle.

For the conservation of local animal breeds, 2000 doses of tissue and blood samples of indigenous germplasm and semen of Ankole longhorn cattle bulls were collected to increase national gene depositaries.

Livestock sub-sector on Tuesday 2nd April, 2024
Wednesday the 3rd : Fisheries sub-sector
Thursday the 4th: Crop sub-sector
Friday the 5th: Progress made via Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) , Ministry of Local Government and MINISTRY OF WATER AND ENVIRONMENT 🇺🇬

Livestock sub-sector (Animal Production and breeding services): Through NATIONAL ANIMAL GENETIC RESOURCES CENTRE &DATABANK , 114,465 doses of semen were produced and extended to farmers. NATIONAL ANIMAL GENETIC RESOURCES CENTRE &DATABANK also produced 90,112 litres of Liquid Nitrogen and put 1,000 animal and plant genetic resources under conservation.
