Last week I met with the NAMI to discuss their work in Nebraska. No one sees the challenges of tackling mental illness more than the loved ones of those affected. Appreciate you sharing your experiences.

I received the NAMI in my DC office to discuss how mental health is a challenge for people of all ages in our communities. We must act to provide increased funding to mental health initiatives like the 988 helpline, which has served 6.5M+ people seeking support.

I had a chance to sit down with NAMI Minnesota executive director Sue Abderholden in my D.C. office this week. We discussed federal mental health policy, and how the holiday season can be a tough time for many. Remember, the 988 hotline is available 24/7 if you are struggling.

It’s critical we continue to work together to address the mental health crisis.

It was great to meet with NAMI New Hampshire Executive Director Susan Stearns yesterday to discuss how we can improve access to mental health care for Granite Staters.

I enjoyed meeting with local representatives from NAMI. NAMI has played a critical role in raising awareness of mental health needs, removing the stigma associated with seeking help and improving access to care. I will keep working with them on these priorities.

📸Yesterday, more than 80 NAMI leaders from across the country met with their elected officials on Capitol Hill, urging Congress to fund mental health crisis response, including the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, mental health resources in schools, and community-based services.

Americans are calling on Congress to take action to improve mental health care in the United States, and I couldn't agree more. Folks are struggling, and it's on us to take action. Time for Congress to step up.
