Covid-19 vaccines have saved countless lives, but the virus is still with us and making thousands of people ill every week. So, this spring, the NHS is offering a further vaccination to those at highest risk of severe illness from Covid.

To provide an inclusive #COVIDVaccine offer, we delivered 185 clinics across our communities, taking the vaccine to our patients.

It’s a bittersweet day for our vaccine hubs. Friends, colleagues, volunteers have worked tirelessly to deliver what has been an outstanding programme.

As our #COVIDVaccine programme evolved, we continued to support patients with complex allergies to have their vaccine, keeping them and their families safe and well.

Since we started over two years ago, our #COVIDVaccine programme has continually delivered excellent patient care, and our results show it!

Today, almost 3 years from the first lockdown and over 2 years since we started our #COVIDVaccine programme, we celebrate the achievements of the hundreds of colleagues and volunteers who have made the programme such a success.

The microbiology team focus on identifying infectious organisms from samples as diverse as blood and faeces to sputum and toenails, so they can be managed and treated in patients. Infections can be caused by bacteria, fungi, viruses and parasites. #HCSWeek2023
