Today we are remembering 90 years since Sir Edward Elgar passed away.
Elgar wished to be remembered here in Lower Broadheath after his death. His daughter, Carice, made sure this happened and the Elgar Birthplace Museum was opened.

A week today we are playing two SOLD OUT ‘stories set to music’ family concerts at Elgar's Birthplace. The story we are performing is Wind in the Willows with music by Elgar. To perform his music at his birthplace is a real honour and we can’t wait!

The Firs is closed for the weekend from 15 to 18 December for a ticketed Father Christmas event.

We will be open again on 22 and 23 December and will then close for essential work until the 16 February, when normal opening hours resume.

The weather's terrible but we're feeling festive! Come and admire the decorations & find a good book in our 2nd hand bookshop.
