Friendly reminder on the full closure of the BQE

Last night in a joint effort with NYPD 42nd Precinct and NYC Sanitation, we removed 2️⃣5️⃣ unregistered and abandoned vehicles from the streets. Let's be sure all vehicles on the streets are properly registered. Great job by everyone involved!

We’re back at it removing recklessly driven illegal 2-wheeled devices from our Upper East Side streets, sidewalks, and bike lanes. These confiscated rides are off to the POUND!

Congrats 🎉 to both officers receiving the Traffic Stat award. While on patrol, the officers observed a vehicle with illegal tints. After stopping the vehicle & investigating, the motorist had an active warrant, an imitation pistol & the vehicle is unregistered. Great job!

Yesterday, members of Highway 1 visited Bronxdale High School to speak to students about the responsibilities of operating a motor vehicle as well as the dangers of driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

This afternoon your 47th Pct. Neighborhood Coordination Officers & Chief of Transportation were out on Webster Avenue addressing illegal car washes and removing RV’s. When you speak, we listen and take action.

The Queens-bound BQE will be fully closed from Atlantic Ave - Sands St from Sat, 4/13 at 2am to Mon, 4/15 at 4am. Travelers are strongly encouraged to avoid the BQE during scheduled closures. Please review the detour routes & expect extended travel times.

We 👂 the complaints from the residents about commercial vehicles parking in residential areas. Last Friday, we deployed 4️⃣ Barnacle Devices in Queens for these violators parked in residential areas. Thank you to all involved in this initiative.

We’re listening! Today our officers towed abandoned vehicles in order to free valuable parking spots for our community members.

Relentless follow-up by officers from Highway Patrol Unit #3 led to the seizure of this vehicle. The vehicle was observed operating on the highway in Queens, in a reckless manner and at a high rate of speed (107mph) - the operator refused to stop. #Visionzero #107mph #seized

Congrats to Dhanadeva Waragoda, Queens Tow Pound on his well deserved promotion to Administrative Manager Auditor. He is also the son-in-law of the late Traffic Enforcement Agent, Kalyanaratne Ranasinghe who was killed by a vehicle in a Line of Duty traffic accident in 2013.
