New Zealand’s planning reforms solved their housing crisis.

If replicated in London, Britain Remade estimates it would save the average couple in a two bed flat £6k.

That’s an election winning pitch.

Housing is London’s biggest challenge, and Sadiq Khan’s greatest failure.

A transformative pro-housing Conservative pitch would beat Khan, and the ideas are already out there.

Today it means building millions more homes for young people - giving them a stake in society.

That should be the new One Nation Conservatism.

As Mayor, Andy Street has shown what pro-housing Conservatism looks like 👏

Building more homes can be an economic and social boon for an area. We should celebrate it, not shun it 🏘️

Boomers are the luckiest generation in history. Not our words - from the The Telegraph!

An average person born in 1956 will get ~£290K more in state benefits than they paid in tax. Many got rich from the house price boom. Working age people are poorer.

Why are we so obsessed with building more homes? This graph 👇

Building more homes:
🏗️Increases economic growth - £17.7bn per 100,000.
👨‍👨‍👧‍👦Supports families - Security and space to raise kids.
💰Boosts social mobility - by balancing price/wage ratio.

The triple lock hikes pension spending year on year.

This is paid by today’s workers, despite 1/4 of pensioners being millionaires.

When the rest of public spending - infra, defence, education - is suffering there must be a breaking point.

🎉 CCHQ has been listening to our campaign.

The double taxation of workers is bad for the economy and bad for working people.

Cutting taxes for workers must be the priority.

My dad was a fireman, mum was a teacher. They could afford a 4 bed family house in suburban Manchester.

Today those people simply can’t, because the price/wage ratio is so unbalanced.

“Just work harder” is a shameful cop out.

Thatcherism broke with the economic consensus. It smashed rent-seeking and made a new generation wealthy.

Applied to today, it means rejecting the enrichment of the affluent aged at the expense of working-age people & economic growth.

Build more homes, tax cuts for workers.

Rent controls dont work, but I think Sadiq Khan knows that. So much of his policy is framed for what feels comfortable to a left wing audience.

We deserve politicians with the courage to tackle the root cause - a chronic under supply of homes.
