Forcing social landlords to do their statutory duty (when it's even possible) requires the admin skills, patience, determination & executive functioning of a demanding 2nd job.

Shouldn't be required to get what people pay for - a decent home.

A council report from 1988 said that 2 of Jennifer Davy's bedrooms had and a high level of moisture and that the problems constituted a ‘statutory nuisance’ under public health law.

36 years later, she's still waiting for the problem to be fixed.

'We've had issues with the roof for ages - leaks, gutters not being cleaned, and flooding on the pavements...

Southern Housing never responds to our complaints, and now it feels like they're doing one big fix to cover up for historic negligence.'

Just heard from another social tenant being required to pay an eye-watering service charge - £59 a week. This includes 'communal repairs', 'entry phone maintenance' + 'sewers & drains' too! We have made a formal complaint but there must be a way of challenging it for all tenants?
