Michelle Harwood Awadalla Lab Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR) CARTaGENE Ontario Health Study Population cohorts like #CanPath , CARTaGENE and Ontario Health Study are valuable resources for asking questions about disease and treatment factors, says Michelle Harwood, esp. since many studies exploring allele specific expression ignore the impact of medications.
Michelle Harwood Awadalla Lab Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR) CARTaGENE Ontario Health Study Tissue specificity or immune involvement? Michelle Harwood is diving into how increased allele-specific expression during aging may reduce the risk of cardiometabolic traits.
Michelle Harwood Awadalla Lab Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR) Using data from population cohorts CARTaGENE and Ontario Health Study, Dr. Michelle Harwood investigated allele-specific expression and how it contributes to healthy aging, disease progression, and treatment outcomes.
Michelle Harwood Awadalla Lab Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR) CARTaGENE Ontario Health Study Does ASE contribute to phenotypic variation in aging? Michelle Harwood summarizes her talk
1️⃣Low-risk people have larger ⬆️ in ASE with age
2️⃣⬆️ ASE in immune genes may be beneficial for healthy agers
3️⃣⬇️ ASE in aging is linked to cardiometabolic trait risk
4️⃣Meds linked to ⬆️ ASE

Researchers using data from ATP Research, Ontario Health Study, & CARTaGENE observed that time spent in the sun had protective effects against the development of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, esp. when also using sun protection.
