Main viruses circulating at present are rhinovirus and COVID-19. Rhinovirus causes the common cold and can cause wheezy illnesses in children or who have asthma. COVID-19 is well known! Thanks Kamila Hawthorne for supporting the RSC in the weekly @RCGP update. Fantastic GPs colleagues share pseudonymised data, this week is our largest ever (>15 million). However, we need more virology samples, 1,000 per week. Interested contact [email protected]

The RSC is still seeing a week-on-week rise in COVID-19, though levels remain low. Please can RSC practices RCGP ORCHID redouble their efforts to take virology samples this summer so we and UK Health Security Agency can better understand the pattern of infection and spread.
