Great news for NYers. The best thing about this type of enforcement is that it actually changes behavior - so the number of tickets issued over time actually decreases. Once drivers realize the rules are not made to be broken, they just start following them.

Everyone is really loving these so how about more on ?

Here's Lucia :D 飞 talking about how CB5 in Bronx passed a daylighting resolution asking for more in her neighborhood. We found a pretty nice example to talk about on Grand Concourse. Open Plans Streetsblog New York

Even drivers know - intersections without daylighting have blind spots that are dangerous and frustrating for everyone. Community boards are getting vocal about changing that.

Another one! Congratulations to Manhattan Community Board 3 for becoming the 14th district to pass a daylighting resolution. It's such a pleasure to help these communities understand the tools available to them to create safer, more pleasant streets for everyone!

Daylighting: the little bit of breathing room that makes a big difference when you're crossing the street.

Urge City leadership to support daylighting across NYC! 📬: bit.ly/4dd3WHw

“The focus was on intersections and why they are the most dangerous for car crashes and how this just benefits everybody.” Lucia :D 飞 👏

Off-hour deliveries are a really valuable tool for getting our curbs to work better. Glad to see DOT thinking strategically about reducing the congestion, pollution & frustration that high, peak-hour truck traffic creates on our city streets.

Daylighting is an important tool to make NYC streets safer. Hear Rachel Grosso who lives on UWS explain the benefits and how our 'friends across the river' in Hoboken have had 7 years of zero fatalities.

Where room to move is a hot commodity, the congestion in Hell’s Kitchen has led to significant air pollution and a dangerous environment for pedestrians. One neighborhood group (CHEKPEDS) is trying to make it safer, one sidewalk at a time. urbanomnibus.net/2024/04/eyes-o…

A Streetfilms (Now 1,100+ films!) dispatch (& understatement) riding NYC's crosstown bike lanes: 'This is not....the best.'

A lot of maintenance & enforcement issues here:

It's true. Parking mandates incentivize NYers to own cars & even force some neighborhoods to depend on them. If we lift them, we can still build parking where needed without requiring it arbitrarily - encouraging more classic NYC neighborhoods full of dense, walkable streets.

Very exciting to see a sneak peek of what NYC could look like in the future! A city where our zoning code actively encourages density & walkability & leaves arbitrary (& costly) parking requirements in the past.
