Ten years ago this month I first visited the China Film Group base in #Huairou outside Beijing. Alongside recreated villages and fortress walls was a vast modern metropolis. Or at least the facades of one. It was the start of a years-long adventure. buff.ly/35huarU

Great to see Artomatic back in business. For me the most engaging installations were those that interacted with the surrounding architecture, including Colin Winterbottom’s recreated workspace in his actual former office.

Watching the violent opening sequence of the #3BodyProblem I couldn't help being reminded of a visit to the Zhenbeipu Western Film City in #Yinchuan , where visitors dress up as Red Guards and pretend to participate in a struggle session against a counter-revolutionary mannequin.
