JJ Wetherholt (SS, WVU Baseball) open-side BP swings. Regarded as having one of the better hit tools in this class. Slowed by injuries this spring; interested to see how he looks at shortstop. Hitting .338/.505/.569 with 21 BBs and just 8 Ks.

Pretty incredible week – and overall season – that Mark Shallenberger is enjoying, as he's rounding second base I'm pretty sure he was waving to his mom out on the berm down the third base line who was cheering on her son with pom poms proudly wearing a #32 Evansville jersey

Freshman LHP Kenton Deverman pitched Evansville to an MVC series-opening win for 5th straight Friday against Valpo:

6 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 3 K, 1 BB, 81 pitches

FB touched 88, sat 85-86, threw a low-70s CB, mid/upper-70s SL and a low-80s CH, command stands out for UE Baseball

Nice win tonight for Pitt Baseball, big moment B8, after starter Ryan Andrade ran out of gas Pitt summoned closer Phil Fox — with 1 in, 1 out + runners on 2nd & 3rd, Fox got this key K using all 91-93 mph FBs, next batter flew out to CF, Pitt wriggled out of it, Fox earned save #6

This one gets in on the hands of Kendall Diggs, but he muscles it into the outfield to plate a pair. Diggs is having an off year offensively but this is his second big hit of the night. Hogs lead 6-1 and Diggs has knocked in 4 himself.

Hagen Smith (lhp, Arkansas Baseball) looking every bit as good as advertised thru 4 innings. 9 Ks & 20 whiffs so far. FB ave 94.6. Two-plane breaking ball w/ spin up to 2650. Just 🤮 stuff. Kentucky up 1-0. Credit Ryan Waldschmidt for barreling an RBI double in the 3rd.

The Matt Bedford/Ricky Reeth tandem has been pretty effective on Fridays in recent weeks for Notre Dame Baseball, Reeth works quickly thru a clean inning, FB is 89-90/91 and showed 4 distinct pitches, the best of which was this big, sweeping slider at 83 mph that ended the top of the 6th

In 3 trips to the plate already Pitt Baseball 1B Luke Cantwell has a walk, a sharp single up the middle and this 2-run double smoked down the RF line — physical presence in LHH batter’s box having a nice year after a promising sophomore season at Fairleigh Dickinson

This was insane, Williams is a human highlight reel that seems to make a jaw dropping play every time I see him play, big reason why Notre Dame Baseball has the best defense in all of college baseball

Ryan Andrade is an intriguing prospect for Pitt Baseball, live arm with a tall, slender build, easy 94-95 mph heat in the early innings with a sharp 82-85 SL and an 82-84 CH he saves for LHHs, works downhill while filling up the zone

Andrade has 4 Ks thru 1st 3 innings

Matt Bedford is thru 3 innings for Notre Dame Baseball, gave up a run in the 3rd, sitting 89-91/92 in the early innings with a big, bendy 83-85 mph slider, also has a low-80s change he has thrown to both LHHs and RHHs, but it’s predominantly a FB/SL look

Here’s 1 of his 3 Ks

.Mark Etheridge made an astute point on the Nerdcast, the Big Ten has 4th-best RPI but are projected as 2-bid league, there is opportunity for a 3rd but 1-2 teams need to step up, parity is bad

Series to watch:

Indiana Baseball at Purdue Baseball
Maryland Baseball at Rutgers Baseball
