Space Ghost #Monday

Gorgeous art from Jonathan Lau and Andrew Dalhouse. It goes in a kind of normal superhero direction, with designs that remind me of Alex Ross more than Toth, that fit the tone and approach of the story. Solid action throughout.

If you do know the original cartoon, Coast to Coast, or several of the other comic adaptations, I think you'll still like this. It's faithful to the characters even as it takes a more serious approach. To me, most importantly, we still have a space monkey.

If you don't know anything about Space Ghost previously, don't worry. This is a fresh start to the character, introducing a new spin on the property. It feels like some of the more serious, but not grim, takes on Gold Key characters that Dynamite has published before.

Brak in the 1967 Space Ghost cartoon: stone-cold space terrorist who'd kill a small child or destroy a planet of kittens for the right price.

Brak in the 1990s spinoffs: goofy good-natured well-intentioned idiot.

Both depictions make for great characters.
