Ouch! Who remembers this? Until 1987, Scottish schools frequently used a leather strap called a 'tawse' to discipline children for 'bad behaviour.' The punishment involved teachers beating the outstretched hands of children. This tawse was used at Caledonian Road School in Perth.

Have you spotted our toilet seat? 🚽

This seat from 1275-1325 CE, was probably cut down from a two-seater plank. At one end there is incised decoration of chevrons and diamonds, probably cut idly while someone was using the toilet.
